Do I need to de-register from my GP to use Push Doctor?
Push Doctor is an NHS partner which provides a service that supplements your current GP service to give you better access to amazing healthcare, when you need it. By using the service you won't be de-registering from your GP and will still have access to a physical appointment should you need one.
How do I book my appointment?
When you get an invite to the service, you’ll be able to register an account with us online.
You can book online appointments in our app or on the website. Once it’s time for your consultation, you’ll enter our online waiting room, and the doctor will see you as soon as possible.
What happens during a consultation?
In your online video consultation, the GP will ask you about your symptoms and can take a look at any affected areas, or listen to any symptoms, for example if you have a cough.
If you’d like to use text to communicate with the GP in your consultation, you can, but you'll need to start the consultation over video so that the doctor can see your ID before proceeding with your appointment.
When you need medication to get better, the GP can write you a prescription.
Who are the doctors?
All of our UK GPs are trained in the NHS and registered with the General Medical Council (GMC), the organisation responsible for overseeing medical practitioners in the UK.
They’re experienced in treating a wide range of conditions, and can help with almost everything your regular GP could in a physical surgery.
How do I get my prescription?
Prescriptions work just like if you had a regular face to face appointment.
If you don’t have access to the electronic prescription service, we’ll send your prescription to your surgery where you can pick up the paper prescription to bring to the pharmacy.
What if I need to see a doctor in person?
The online video consultation service through Push Doctor is an addition to your GP services you’re already offered at your surgery.
This means that you'll still be able to see your regular doctor in person. To do this, you just book in as normal.
Am I eligible for Push Doctor?
Our Push Doctor product is currently available to patients who are registered with selected partnership surgeries.
Keep an eye out though as we will be rolling this out across the UK in the coming months.
Will I see my own GP via the video consultation?
Push Doctor is set up to support your GP and give you access to an online consultation when you may not be able to get a physical one. Whilst the GP you will see when using Push Doctor won't be the GP you are used to from your surgery, they will be an NHS trained UK GP and will still have access to your medical records should they need them.
How does a Push Doctor consultation work?
With Push Doctor, you can speak to experienced, NHS trained UK GPs over a secure video call using your mobile, tablet or computer.
It will take just a few minutes to run a few security checks to ensure you're eligible to use the service , after which you will enter our virtual waiting room and be connected to an NHS trained, UK GP as soon as they are ready.
The appointment itself will be very similar to your regular consultation. Our doctors can check your symptoms and if appropriate, can write you a same-day prescription, a sick note (officially known as a fit note), or a referral letter.
Do I have to pay for my prescriptions with a Push Doctor appointment?
Standard charges for an NHS prescription apply.
